The new vertical garden

Last year, Inquiry Hub won the Ken spencer award for innovation in teaching and learning. That allowed us to fund many different types of inquiries and projects, like Shauna’s kitchen unit. My idea was to build a vertical garden to compliment the iHub garden.002

The basic structure is made out of wood, with gutters holding the plants, and a pump to bring the water to the top (gravity pulls it down) so that the plants get a lot of water. Soon we’re going to get fish to make it an aquaponic vertical garden. Shauna and Sophia did an aquaponics project when they were in grade 10, and I’m hoping to improve on that and make a better system.

Right now, we are only growing Rosemary and lettuce, but I’d also like to start some basil and mint.
